Radio comes on but controls won't work (display stuck on "Ford Focus") So it started out with my CD player not being able to be controlled with the display not coming off of "Ford Focus" and the clock, exterior temperature, and artist/title not displaying. I couldn't turn it off, change the band or the song, nor the volume.
Very common issue, had it with my MK2 and smacking the dash like an old TV would bring it back. If that's the case then it's going to be a solder issue. The fact that your LCD is dead is another clue to bad solder. What you need to do to fix it permanently is pull the instrument cluster out and resolder the connector for the dash wiring loom.
