Top down is more fun. Hard top (OEM) looks better. Im taking the “more fun” option AND saving $6k. Sounds like a win win to me lol. 5. Nerd-Vol. • 2 yr. ago. If the S2000 was my daily, I would want a hardtop. I think a hardtop looks cooler, even though the S2K has one of the nicer looking soft tops.
The soft top has grown on me, but it's going to get cold. EDIT: New York Winters. Below freezing temperatures + Slow and Sleet. I used my soft top last winter as a daily and honestly it wasn't bad at all. Miatas have such a small cabin that once you crank the heat for a minute you'll be just fine.

It comes in Sport, Club, and Grand Touring trims. Unfortunately, the base Sport trim is only available with a soft top, but you can opt for a power-retractable hardtop with Club and Grand Touring models. Mazda calls the hardtop version the MX-5 Miata RF (retractable fastback).

But Mazda also offers an RF variant in the Club and Grand Touring trims, with a power-retractable hard top in a fastback shape. As an owner of the much more bulbous VW EOS, it’s funny to say “my car weighs more than a Tesla Model 3”. ST because if I put the top down, I want it all the way down. With the RF, the blind spots remain, and so does the window noise. In my soft top, neither exist if I put it down. reCQtk.
